Privacy Policy
Who We Are
Breezer Electric is a Kenyan smart home technology company. We build and install home automation systems and provide the Smart Home app to allow our customers to control their lights and electrical appliances remotely.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Smart Home app, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your data to third parties.
Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information needed to run your smart home system:
- Account information — your full name and email address when you register
- Home configuration — your unique Home ID, number of relays installed, and room layout you define
- Device preferences — your chosen language, relay labels you set, and app settings
- Relay activity — which lights are ON or OFF so your dashboard reflects real state
We do not collect your location, phone contacts, camera access, microphone, or any other personal data beyond what is listed above.
How We Use Your Information
- To allow you to log into the Smart Home app securely
- To connect your app to your installed ESP32 hardware via MQTT
- To save your room layout and relay names so they sync across all your devices
- To allow our installation technicians to configure your system during setup
- To send you password reset emails when you request them
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating your smart home system.
Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored securely on Supabase (supabase.com), a trusted cloud database provider with industry-standard encryption.
Your smart home commands travel via HiveMQ Cloud (hivemq.com), an encrypted MQTT broker using TLS encryption. All communication between the app, broker, and your ESP32 is encrypted in transit.
Your password is never stored in plain text — it is hashed using industry-standard methods by Supabase.
Only you and Breezer Electric installation staff (using a PIN-protected installer panel) can access your system configuration.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing purposes.
We use the following trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — secure database and authentication (supabase.com)
- HiveMQ — encrypted MQTT messaging for device control (hivemq.com)
- Netlify — hosting of the Smart Home web app (netlify.com)
Each provider has their own privacy policy and processes data only as required to provide their service.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you at any time
- Request correction of incorrect information
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Change your password at any time through the app
- Opt out by contacting us — we will delete your account within 7 business days
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children's Privacy
The Smart Home app is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
